FIELD: agriculture, in particular, commercial extraction of licorice roots. SUBSTANCE: method involves harvesting previous plant and conducting basic postharvest tillage of soil; providing covering harrowing in early spring; cultivating soil for 6-8 cm depth in direction transverse to plowed field and levelling field surface, when soil temperature reaches 1-12 C; simultaneously preparing 4-5 year roots and rootstocks in reservations or licorice plantations; preparing cuttings of 20-30 cm length and laying them in polyethylene bags which had been preliminarily treated with bischofite; providing square pocket planting, with row spacing being 0.6-0.7 m, pocket spacing - 0.6-0.7 m; forming cylindrical holes of 0.2-0.3 m diameter and 0.3 m depth; prior to planting of cuttings, binding one ends of roots and rootstocks into bundles, with number of propagules exceeding 3; placing bound ends onto hole bottom and covering with soil; deflecting top ends of roots and rootstocks in radial directions with angle of inclination relative to vertical plane not exceeding 45-60 deg; compacting and levelling hole; providing interrow care on partial propagules in two mutually perpendicular directions upon appearance of 3-5 leaves.
