SUBSTANCE: banded backup roll includes arbor, barrel with band mounted on it by interference fit and journals for roll bearings joined with barrel by transition cone portions. At end portions of mounting surfaces of barrel and band there are mutually opposite tapers decreasing diameter of mounting surface of barrel and increasing diameter of mounting surface of band. Diameter of barrel is more than that of cone portions at side of their adjoining to barrel. Diameter of barrel is determined according to relation: Db=(1.08-1.2)Dc, where Db - diameter of barrel, Dc - diameter of cone portions at side of their adjoining to barrel.
