FIELD: instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: method is based on filling the vessel and body located in the latter with gas, gas passing through flowmeter within some period of time and on taking the reading of balance loaded with body. Vessel and body used have calibrated volume. Vessel and cavity of body communicated with each other. They are filled with working gas and then separated. Gas is delivered to flowmeter from calibrated vessel, and buoyant force variation is measured. Mass gas rate of flow through flowmeter at moment of time is measured by formula , where V is volume of vessel; V1 is volume of body; t is time. Device intended for method realization has balance positioned inside vessel and loaded by body. Balance is provided with system for balancing the mass of body. Method solves problem of calibration and checking of gas flowmeters without using elastic vessel and without gas, molecular weight of which is less than that of calibration medium.
