FIELD: porous technical materials. SUBSTANCE: porous material is formed from a composition consisting of cellulose an aqueous suspension and filling agent being the latter is thermoplastic polymer (particle size is 0.4 mm, not above) taken in the amount 0.1-25.0 wt.-% or its mixture with 0.1-65.0 wt. -% mineral filling agent (schungite, zeolite, apatite, diatomite, perlite, tripolite or their mixture at particle size 0.074 mm, not above). Formed material is dehydrated by gravity flow or under vacuum, pressed under pressure, dried at 80-140 C and subjected for thermic treatment at polymer melting point for 10-25 min. Before drying one of site can be covered with latex (copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinylidene chloride) at concentration at least 10% in the amount 2.5-3.5 wt.-% of absolutely dry covering material mass. Porous material can be used for making filters for purification of liquid and gaseous substances and capsules for repellents, poison chemical reagents, perfume substances and others. EFFECT: improved method of producing. 5 cl, 1 tbl
