FIELD: chemical technology, inorganic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: ammonium zeolites containing very low content of alkaline metal are produced by ion exchange of sodium with potassium followed by ion exchange with ammonium. Method involves interaction of zeolite X or zeolite Y containing significant amount of sodium with potassium salt solution at conditions providing substitution of significant part of sodium with potassium. Then interaction of potassium-enriched zeolite with ammonium salt solution is carried out and ammonium ions substitute sodium and potassium ions.
