PROCESS OF PROCESSING OF POLYMER MATERIAL AND GEAR FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2119504 C1

FIELD: mixing and dispersing of homogeneous media. SUBSTANCE: there is proposed three-zone processing of polymer material. In first zone loaded polymer material is heated to 100-250 C thanks to dissipation of mechanical energy created by rotation of rotor of gear with speed of 200-2000 rpm. As result of it polymer material is plasticized in clearance between friction cylinders. In second zone there is created pressure of 10-80 kPa and temperature is raised to 150-300 C which leads to initial phase of destruction of plasticized polymer material. In third zone destruction of polymer material proper is conducted at temperature of 200-350 C and pressure 10-90 kPa. Narrow molecular-mass distribution ( (Mn/Mw< 3,5) ) of polymer material and insufficient content of volatile materials is provided by design of apparatus and by short-time thermal action on polymer material. Gear for implementation of process has cylindrical body with cooling jackets, loading and unloading branch pipes, working tool made in the form of rotor with chain of rolling- contact bearings. Gear is provided with at least two friction surfaces that form clearance and are located ahead of chain of bearings. Friction surfaces are made in the form of internal and external conical surfaces. Flow section area formed by surfaces across inlet of processed polymer material relates to flow section area formed by surfaces across outlet of polymer material as 1:1.5-1-2.5.
