FIELD: retaining structures in the form of walls and composite blocks for stonework of retaining structures. SUBSTANCE: block has front and rear, upper and lower surfaces and the first and second sides. Each side has, respectively, the first and second recesses extending from upper surface of block to its lower surface. Block upper surface has at least one projection located near the first and second recesses on upper surface. Block has the first and second anchor blades. The first blade extends from the first side of block, while the second, extends from the second side. Block anchor plates may rest in plane parallel to its from surface or directed toward front surface. Blocks are laid on one another to form retaining structure with mutual engagement in which projections of one block enter recesses of the other block. Invention also includes molding unit for production of composite blocks for stonework of retaining structure. EFFECT: creation of retaining structure in the form of wall from composite blocks for stonework, higher structure integrity needing no application of complicated rod joining systems and additional fastening means. 29 cl, 18 dwg
