FIELD: electrical engineering; AC machines; propulsion motors, water-pump driving motors, hydraulic- turbine generators, and the like, especially those placed in confined areas, such as encapsulated machines. SUBSTANCE: slotless AC stator has frame carrying winding coils whose active sides are built as stacks of relatively alternating winding conductors and ferromagnetic sheet members; coils are arranged in m layers and electrically connected in layer- by-layer manner to form single-phase windings each connected to respective phase lead of stator m-phase current supply. Winding layers connected to adjacent phases according to their sequence are spaced 360 deg apart. EFFECT: reduced size of machines and facilitated manufacture. 2 cl, 4 dwg
