FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining the number of theophylline- resistant lymphocytes, theophylline-resistant lymphocytes to theophylline- sensitive lymphocytes ratio in loading theophylline test. M, A and G serum immunoglobulin concentrations are determined in radial immune diffusion reaction. Allergic inflammation index is calculated from formula I=(0.06*TPR+ 10*IRI)/(IgG+4*IgA+10*IgM)И = (0,06•ТФР+10•ИРИ)/(lgG+4•lgA+10•lgM)2, where I is the allergic inflammation index, 0.6, 10, 4, 10 are coefficient for norming the values of characteristics under examination, IgG, IgA, IgM are G, A, M serum immunoglobulin class concentrations in g/l, TPR is the absolute value of theophylline-resistant lymphocytes number in 1 mcl of venous blood. IRI is the theophylline-resistant lymphocytes to theophylline-sensitive lymphocytes ratio. Repeated bronchial asthma attacks corresponding to clinical pattern of the disease allergic inflammation threshold index being exceeded, severe case of bronchial asthma is to be diagnosed. Atopic bronchial asthma threshold is set to have the value of 0.130. Infection- dependent bronchial asthma threshold is set to have the value of 0.80. Differential diagnosis of atopic and infection-dependent bronchial asthma differential diagnosis being difficult to distinguish, the threshold value is set to be equal to 0.10.
