FIELD: waste processing. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used when isolating heavy metals by sorption from aqueous and water- organic solutions of electrolytes on polymer materials, in particular, when selectively isolating zinc(II) and cadmium(II) ions from solutions produced in various processes: anodic treatment of metals and alloys, galvanostegy, electroplating, etc. Invention may also be of utility in improving sorption and membrane technologies, in demineralization (desalting) processes, and when developing technologies for utilizing zinc and cadmium from aqueous solutions and various-nature waste waters. Method consists in treating electrolyte solution to be cleaned for 1.5-2 hr with cellulose derivatives not swelling in water and water-organic electrolyte solutions, in particular, with ethylcellulose containing 45-46% ethoxy groups and cellulose triacetate with substitution ratio 2.6- 2.9 and degree of polymerization 200-220. These are successively added, with stirring, in amounts 10 to 20 g/l to solution being cleaned together with 0.1 to 15 g/l of sodium or potassium chloride and 0.1 to 140 g/l of isopropyl alcohol. Temperature of efficiency solution is 20-25 C. EFFECT: simplified equipment, reduced expenses, and enabled regeneration of sorbents. 1 tbl
