FIELD: crude oil treatment. SUBSTANCE: removal of hydrogen sulfide and low-molecular mercaptans is accomplished by treating raw material with methanolethanolamine, dimethanolethanolamine, methanoldiethanolamine, or their mixture taken in amount 0.3 to 2 mole per 1 mole of mercaptan and hydrogen sulfide sulfur at temperature from 20 to 80 C. Amines are used as aqueous solution preliminarily obtained by interaction of mono- or diethanolamine with formaldehyde aqueous solution at molar ratio of ethanolamine to formaldehyde 1:(1-2) at room temperature.
