FIELD: electrothermics. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to phosphorus furnaces and can be applied in manufacturing large- diameter (up to 2 m) self-baking electrodes and to other ore-reduction furnaces where such electrodes are employed. Objective of invention is to develop composition and prepare electrode paste for self-baking electrodes of high-power phosphorus electric furnaces ensuring their reliable operation due to high thermal stability, mechanical strength, and low electric conduction of coked electrode. New granulometric composition of thermal anthracite and coke as well as various fractions ratio are proposed, and total ratio of solid carbon components of mixture is changed. Higher-quality preparation of carbon materials is achieved by controlling heat treatment of anthracite in electric calcinator using variation of specific power consumption and controlling anthracite graphitization process. EFFECT: reduced (by 3-6%) consumption of electrode paste. 3 cl, 3 tbl
