FIELD: electrode production. SUBSTANCE: preliminarily prepared anthracite with fineness 20-60 mm, prior to be charged into furnace, is treated with water in amounts 2-5% based on weight of anthracite. The latter is then heated and calcined using heat from combustion of gas fuel and anthracite at ratio 1: (2.7-3.7). Resultant thermoanthracite is cooled by sprinkled water to 500-700 C and then by air supplied to burn fuel with coefficient of intake 4-5. Invention allows amount of produced calcined thermoanthracite to be increased by 2.8-3 times and yield of thermoanthracite to be increased by 20.4-23.3%. Loss of material is reduced by 10%. EFFECT: increased yield of product. 1 tbl, 4 ex
