FIELD: nondestructive testing, flaw detection in current conducting articles with nonconductive nonmagnetic coat of variable thickness. SUBSTANCE: proposed eddy-current flaw detector has controlled self-excited oscillator, amplitude detector, threshold unit, indicator connected in series, pulse generator, controlled key, pulse counter and digital-to-analog converter connected in series. Flaw detector is provided with inductance coil, resistor and switch connected in series and forming closed series circuit inductively coupled to winding of eddy-current converter. EFFECT: compensation for effects of variable thickness of coat, enhanced authenticity of testing. 2 dwg
