FIELD: electrical engineering; measuring mains capacitance to ground, degree of maladjustment of neutral compensation, and damping coefficient of compensated-neutral mains. SUBSTANCE: under normal conditions of power mains, curves of neutral voltage, line voltage, and blow-out coil current are recorded simultaneously, first harmonic of neutral voltage is separated, active and imaginary components of this harmonic relative to line voltage is found, these components are divided by line voltage, blow-out coil inductance is varied, same values are recorded, degree of compensation maladjustment, damping coefficient of compensated-neutral mains, and mains capacitance to ground are calculated from equations given in description of invention. Device implementing this method is provided with newly introduced digital devices and units: series-connected clock generator and microprocessor unit, analog-to-digital converter, read-only and random-access memory devices, address register, memory controller, control unit, system unibus connecting microprocessor unit to mentioned digital devices, as well as switches, voltage switch, and unibus connecting address register output to inputs of memory devices, control unit, and switch.
