FIELD: manufacture of boilers; heat consuming plants with rotary regenerative air preheaters. SUBSTANCE: air preheater has casing 1 with covers 2 and 3, rotor 4 with heat-exchange packing located inside casing, axial, peripheral and main radial seals 10, 11, 12 and 13, respectively, two additional radial seals 16 and 17, two pairs of sealing gas supply branch pipes with valves 21 and 22, gate valves 23, 24, 25 and 26 of additional compartments 18 with regulation units 27, end seals 28 and 29. Cover 2 has branch pipes 57, 58 and 59 for delivery and discharge of gas and sealing gas and introducing air, respectively. Seals 16 and cover 2 have holes 51 and 52. branch pipe 49 and holes 51 and 52 are connected with branch pipe 50 by means of ducts 53 and 54. Branch pipe 49 is connected with branch pipe 50 and with atmosphere through gastight valves 55 and 56, respectively. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 4 cl, 9 dwg
