FIELD: gastroenterology. SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to estimate degree of liver failure in operated patients suffering from mechanical jaundice with different etiology. Content of malonic dialdehyde colored by barbituric acid is determined in patient's bile from general hepatic duct. When dialdehyde content is 1.09 ± 0.21 conditional units per 1 ml of bile or lower, liver failure is diagnosed. EFFECT: simplified diagnostics. 1 tbl, 3 ex
