FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves running direct current through electric circuit consisting of two electrodes of dissimilar materials. Direction of direct current should cause absorption of Peltier-effect heat in junction to cool it. So, alternation of junction temperature and measuring thermoelectric power values help in detection of dependence of Peltier-effect rate on temperature of junction in electric circuit. Peltier-effect and Joule heat amounts are completely separated and are taken into account upon measurement of Peltier-effect rate. Corresponding device has direct current source, variable resistor, millimeter, three-terminal switches, gage of thermoelectric thermometer, glass bulb which contains electrodes from materials under investigation, heater, controlled source of alternating voltage, constant resistor, differential amplifier, controlled voltage divider and millivoltmeter.
