METHOD FOR DETERMINING SUBSTANCES POSSESSING PROPERTIES REPELLENT OR ATTRACTIVE FOR GERMAN COCKROACHES Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: biological researches. SUBSTANCE: method involves evaluating action of substance under research upon behavior reaction of German cockroaches by placing two refuges on test plates; delivering 10-20 specimens into chute for adaptation; applying substance under research to one plate; drying and returning it into chute; counting number of cockroaches hiding in refuge and those staying outside refuge; evaluating nature of secretion traces on plate surface and determining repellent or attractive action coefficient. Adaptation time is 25-30 min. Sexual, aggregation and track pheromones and excrements are considered as traces. Cockroach specimens are counted in refuge and outside it each hour within time interval ranging between 3 hours and 5 days.
