FIELD: geological instrumentation. SUBSTANCE: this is used in searching for deposits of hydrocarbons and other gas-bearing materials by direct geochemical methods, and it is also used in ecological investigations of bottom deposits and of water depth. Hermetic bathometer pipe has cylindrical body with tail stabilizer. Located in body is core-receiving chamber with insert. Lower end of pipe is provided with head-piece. Four-conductor cable-rope is used for transportation of bathometer pipe and for supplying electric power to it. Installed inside body are vibrator and gas-collecting bottle. For hermetic sealing of lower part of body, head-piece accommodates device made in the form of hydropneumatic rubber-fabric valve which is connected with bottle of medium working pressure. This bottle is filled with gas-liquid mixture so that pressure inside it is higher than hydrostatic pressure. Pressure compensator is made in the form of spring-loaded pressure-reducing valve. Device for hermetic sealing of upper part of pipe is made in the form of spring-loaded electromagnetic valve. Application of aforesaid embodiment of bathometer allows for performing quantitative evaluation of natural or technogenic gas-saturation of actual deposits and water depth due to taking samples in hermetic receiving chamber and raising it to surface.
