FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: this is primarily intended for selective recovery of diamonds from kimberlite pipes. According to method, following operations are undertaken. After opening of section by central bore-hole, peripheral bore-holes, intermediate bore-holes, and contour bore-holes, section is mined by layers from bottom upwards. For mining layers from contour bore-holes, created is contour slot, and created above layer is artificial ceiling. Mining of layer is performed by chambers beginning with peripheral chambers. For self-caving of rock in chamber, cutting-in space at its bottom is washed out. After mining of lower layer, work is moved to mining of upper layer. Layer representing barren rock is not mined. Also skipped are chambers of layer containing no diamonds. Application of aforesaid method allows for mining of minerals with less expenses. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 11 cl, 7 dwg
