SUBSTANCE: claimed process comprises preparing caprolactam by cyclohexanone oxime Beckman regrouping with oleum in the presence of aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic C1-C20 carboxylic acid, preferably C1-C10 acid, and more preferably cyclohexanecarboxylic acid, at 20-150 C. Cyclohexanecarboxylic acid and oleum are components of acidic reaction mixture resulting from reaction of lactamization of cyclohexanecarboxylic acid with nitrosonium hydrosulphide.
