DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ERECTING SUPPORTING COLUMNS OF SELF-RAISING FLOATING PLATFORM Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: hydraulic engineering structures. SUBSTANCE: this relates to hydraulic engineering construction in sea shelf. In device for erection of supporting columns, load-bearing metal structure is made in the form of tripod having upper beam and being installed between standard units of fastening supporting column. Tripod is placed on roof of gantry for travel conditions. Each of tripod legs is made with supporting surface which is in contact with gantry roof, and has opening in lower part of leg which interacts with screw of standard fastening unit. Each leg is provided with eyebolt. Raising rope from main winch of platform is reeved through deflection pulleys to tackle block pulleys installed on upper beam of tripod and oriented in middle of gantry opening. Raising rope is brought to load hanger which carries main lifting slings which are made sectional. Length of slings is larger than distance from most remote eyebolt of supporting column moored at platform side to load hanger sunken to platform bottom. For mounting, supporting column is provided with main eyebolts and additional eyebolts. Before immersing of column, load hanger is lowered down to bottom of platform body. Main lifting slings are brought upwards and connected with main eyebolts of supporting column. Then ropes of additional winches are inserted through gantry opening and connected with head-piece of supporting column. Supporting column is sunken until it hangs from load hanger and than it is lifted by main winch of platform up to bottom of platform. Supporting column is oriented by means of ropes of additional winches so as to bring it into opening of gantry shaft. Now ropes of additional winches are detached from supporting column. Column is raised by means of main winch until its head-piece quits water and after that additional slings of device are attached to additional eyebolts of column. Supporting column is raised by additional slings, and main slings are shortened by removing one part of each sling. Remaining parts of slings are attached to main eyebolt of column and column is raised. Here additional slings are detached, and supporting column is raised until engaging with gears of reduction units of lifting mechanism. Aforesaid embodiment of components and method of erection simplify design of device, enhance its load lifting capacity, improve its performance characteristics, and reduce expenses in erection of supporting column.
