FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing vertical channels in soil at 0.5-2.5 m depth; laying material with thin capillaries, such as foamed polystyrene, perlite, in channels so that upper part of material is adjacent to plant roots and lower part, in optimum version, reaches ground waters. Water is drawn from lower horizon by capillary tension effect to moisten upper soil layers. Material may be formed as columns or bars of 0.1-1.0 m diameter, which may be lowered into preliminarily provided vertical channels. EFFECT: increased efficiency by stabilized moisture condition and increased moisture content in root layers of soil. 4 cl, 3 dwg
