FIELD: production of welding electrodes. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes unit for feeding electrodes and mechanism for separating electrodes by pieces. Eddy current type transducer detects different thickness of coating of electrodes and forms respective signal that is amplified, sampled and fed to threshold unit. Then it is compared with set allowance value and finally fixed by means of actuator due to operation of electromagnet of rejecting shutter arranged along direction of electrode throwing out of measuring zone. EFFECT: lowered quantity of waste electrode and coat material, reduced energy consumption for electrode procession. 5 cl, 1 dwg
