FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed method, as distinct from known one, saves lives of passengers and driver at extreme impact loads and helps passengers on back seats withstand such loads. This is provided owing to the fact that at extreme load backrest of driver's seat, under action of spring, is hinged backwards bringing driver out of contact with steering wheel and making the driver occupy more favorable position relative to direction of impact load vector as driver is fastened to backrest of seat at breast level by wide seat belt made of air permeable capron net. EFFECT: enhanced protection of driver and passengers.
