SUBSTANCE: method includes contacting of copper-containing material 10 with aqueous leaching solution 70 to form aqueous leaching solution 74 rich in copper; contacting of leaching solution 74 with nonsoluble in water extracting agent 64 to form extracting agent 90 rich in copper and aqueous leaching copper-depleted solution 124; separation of extracting agent 90 from leaching solution 124; contacting of extracting agent 90 rich in copper with aqueous desorbing solution 106 to transfer copper ions from extracting agent to desorbing solution to form desorbing solution 142 rich in copper and copper-depleted extracting agent 114; separation of desorbing solution 142 from extracting agent 114 to form the first electrolyte solution 148; supply of electrolyte solution to electrolytic cell 24 provided with anode 28 and cathode 26 and application of voltage to deposit copper metal powder on cathode 26 and removal of copper metal powder 152 from the first cathode. In one version of the method, copper metal powder is converted into cuprous oxide, cupric oxide or their mixture which may be solved in sulfuric acid and used for production of copper foil.
