FIELD: automation and computer engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves splitting image, which is represented as electric signals, into several pieces and evaluation of their size Ni. Goal of invention is achieved by introduced operations for detection of encoded line pieces, detection of r-th groups of sequential pieces of adjacent blank lines of minimal size, detection of p-th groups of sequential pieces of adjacent non-blank lines, estimation whether groups of sequential pieces of blank lines appear in quasi-period Qr, calculation of ratios dp for maximal absolute value Δdipmax and minimal absolute value Δipmin for differences in size of adjacent encoded non- blank lines. These values are compared to threshold D. Result of comparison is used for final decision. EFFECT: increased precision of recognition of text and graphic facsimile images. 1 dwg
