FIELD: rubber industry. SUBSTANCE: method of preparing iron-chromium- potassium isoamylene dehydration catalyst is distinguished by that essential catalyst component - finely divided ferric oxide, prior to be molded, is treated with aqueous solution of potassium carbonate and potassium hydroxide taken in weight ratio (20 to 100):1 at 85-90 C for at least 6 hr. In isoamylene dehydration process, use of such catalyst results in isoprene yields 40-41% (of the weight of passed isoamylenes) and 90.0-91.5% (of the weight of converted isoamylenes).
