FIELD: mechanical engineering; drives of machines with flexible coupling; drives working at varying loading; automatic flat-belt variable-speed drives. SUBSTANCE: pulley includes flat multi-coil spring whose one end is rigidly secured on hub of drive shaft; end coil of spring forms rim; free end flat multi-coil spring holds retainer made in form of bracket with shaft fitted on it rotatably. Flat multi-coil spring is passed under shaft for drawing by retainer forming the above-mentioned rim. Construction of pulley provides for automatic considerable reduction of diameter of pulley fitted on drive shaft and consequently automatic control of gear ratio in case of change in load on pulley of driven shaft; provision is also made for continuous smooth change of diameter of pulley in the course of operation of drive without stoppage.
