FIELD: light-sensitive materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to silver halide photographic emulsions with nucleus-shell-type microcrystals and can be used in manufacturing various-type black-and-white and color photographic materials. Emulsion contains silver chlorobromide microcrystals with silver chloride concentration from 5 to 93.5 mol % based on total amount of halides in nucleus-shell structure, wherein nuclei and shells of microcrystals contain, respectively, 3 to 90 and 85-100 mol % of silver bromide, difference of silver bromide concentrations in shell and nucleus being 10 to 90 mol %. Proposed distribution of silver halides in microcrystals' bulk makes it possible to enlarge assortment of chloride-containing silver halide nucleus-shell-type emulsions and their application area thanks to improved totality of sensitometric characteristics, in particular: increased level of sensitivity to the level of silver bromoiodide emulsion with equal- size microcrystals, reduced fog density by a factor of 1.5 to 2.4, increased contrast factor by 30 to 60%, increased maximum optical densities by 10-20%, and increased stability of sensitometric characteristics on storage. EFFECT: enlarged assortment and application area. 3 cl, 2 tbl, 42 ex
