FIELD: motor fuel antiknock agents. SUBSTANCE: cyclopentadienylmagnesium tricarbonyl is prepared by interaction of sodium cyclopentadiene derivative and anhydrous manganese dichloride followed by carbonylation of reaction mass with carbon monoxide under inert atmosphere in tetrahydrofuran at heating, elevated pressure, and stirring in presence of transition metal carbonyl additive. Advantageously, diiron carbonyl sulfide in quantity 0.05-0.1 mol % is used and stirring is carried out at relative velocity of displacement of solid and liquid reaction mass components at least 10 m/s. Carbonylation is preferably carried out at 250-260 C and pressure 80- 100 kg/sq. cm. Basic constructional feature of apparatus is its stirring device in the form of propeller and turbine agitators mounted on central shaft one above the other, while members of reactor and agitators are linked with each other by specified proportions providing high efficiency, vigorous stirring of reaction mass, and yield of product increased to 95.2%, while process duration is reduced to 15-20 min.
