COKE-QUENCHING CAR Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy transportation of coke to coke quenching tower and discharge ramp. SUBSTANCE: chutes 8 for processing water and fine fractions of coke are provided with cross platform 9 which form, together with inclined floor 5, horizontal steps. Shutoff gear 4 of car body 3 has movable sections consisting of angle plates 10 with carriers 11. Carriers are secured on shutoff gear 4 by means of hinges. Carriers and angle plates are connected by adjustable threaded joints providing adjustment of tight fitting of angle plates to lining plates 6 of inclined floor. Angle plates are fitted to plates to suit job requirements. With car moving pusher do not affect fine fractions of coke lying on horizontal platforms 9, thanks to which coke losses in transportation are reduced. When quenching coke with water in quenching tower, fine fractions of coke, easily washed from platforms 9, pass along chutes 8 into settler for subsequent processing.
