FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method is realised by cooling coke while sorting said coke according to grain-size category through indirect heat exchange with a coolant as the coke passes under gravity through a first step and direct heat exchange with the coolant at the second step by wetting the coke with water while continuously stirring and forced movement of the coke through the second step and feeding water for cooling the coke in zones in an amount which ensures evaporation thereof and achieving the given coke temperature in each zone, where at the second cooling step, which consists of two drums lying in series at the same angle to the axis of the top chamber, coke is cooled and sorted according to grain-size categories, wherein said sorting is carried out in the second drum by sieving fine categories, which have reached temperature of 200°C, from the total mass. Lumps of coke and water vapour are removed from the first and second drums while stirring and moving the coke without stopping the process of wetting the coke with water and cooling. The apparatus for realising said method has a shaft-type top chamber 1 with heat exchangers 4 inside and joined to a bottom chamber which is in form of a revolving drum which is inclined to the axis of the top chamber and is fitted with a device 18 for stirring and moving coke to the outlet end of the drum and a device for feeding water - pipes 34, 35, 36 in different zones of the drum with a water flow regulator 37. The bottom chamber, which is the second cooling stage, is made of two drums 6, 10, arranged in series at the same angle to the axis of the top chamber and mounted on rotation supports 8, 11, and having independent drives 9, 12, from which the first drum 6 with rotation speed of 1.5-3 rpm is divided into two coke cooling zones 14, 15 by threshold diaphragms 13; the second drum 10, also divided into two zones 16, 17, is fitted with a drive with possibility of varying the rotation speed in the range of 1.5-22 rpm; the housing of the second drum 10 in each zone has holes 19, 20 of the required size and shape for sieving lumps of coke, is fitted with stirring devices 21, 22, fitted with a gap equal to the size of the holes in the housing; a pipe 36 which feeds water into the second drum 10 is installed in the top third diameter of the drum over the sieving zones, and steam and dust exit the second drum 10 through fixed covers 24, 25, 26, whose cylindrical surface has holes for sieving the selected coke fractions.
EFFECT: invention improves economic and environmental indicators, improves the quality of coke, simplifies the process of sorting coke according to grain-size categories and reduces capital costs during construction.
