FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: polyazomethines are prepared by polycondensation of diamines with dialdehydes in melt of organic solvent which is solid at room temperature at 110-180 C for 0.5-4 h. Solvent is mixture of benzoic acid with benzimidazole or 2-methyl benzimidazole. Method makes it possible to improve quality of the desired product by increasing molecular weight of polyazomethines.
