FIELD: hydrometallurgy; may be used at enterprises for recovery of colloid and finely dispersed metals (gold, platinum, platinoids, mercury, amalgams) from ore suspensions and wastes of various production processes. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of aqueous suspension, treatment of prepared aqueous suspension with reagent used in the form of iodine in quantity up to 300 g/t of solid material. Process is conducted in alkali medium. EFFECT: no need in special equipment, special expensive or toxic reagents, and no limitations with respect to size of recovered metals in initial products.
