SUBSTANCE: method comprises subsequent stages of (a) contacting product effluent from reactor containing alcohol; (b) removing and regenerating any desired olefinic products; (c) adding aqueous base to part of product that contains no olefin; (d) removing precipitate from product (b); separating aqueous and organic phases (d); adding acid to aqueous phase (b). Said method makes it possible to effectively deactivate and retard catalyst to prevent formation of polymer which adheres to internal walls or other reactor components and interferes with heat transfer.
