FIELD: physics, testing systems. SUBSTANCE: gear for implementation of method has sampler vertically built in primary converter. Control unit is connected to converter and power supply unit. Converter is separated by magnetoscreening partition, shut-off valve composed of two horizontal electromagnets being located in its lower part and vertical instrument and compensation coils being placed in its upper part. Sampler passes through instrument coil, partition, electromagnets and goes out of case of converter. Outlet end of sampler is open and upper end has asymmetrical slit. Sampler is put into pulp feed-line, its upper end being positioned above flow of pulp and slit being directed in opposition to flow. When gear is switched on shut-off valve holds pulp in sampler, particles settle, control unit registers magnetic permeability and processes obtained information. Fraction of total mass of iron is determined by formula %Fe = (B-Cd)KA3 in which , a1= A1/A3, a2= A2/A3 where Fe is fraction of total mass of iron in concentrate; B, C, K are constant coefficients determined by calibration charts of pulp samples; d is relative average diameter of pulp particles, a1, a2 are rated coefficients of relative magnetic susceptibility; A1, A2, A3 are magnitudes of relative magnetic susceptibility at start, in interval and end of precipitation correspondingly of solid phase of pulp; e is exponent.
