FIELD: mechanical engineering, in particular, surface plasma strengthening of wheel bands and rims. SUBSTANCE: semiautomatic line has stand equipped with device for stacking wheel pair on conveyor intersecting stand, plasmotron with nozzles and wheel pair rotating mechanism, and drive roller for wheel pair rotating mechanism. Drive roller is joined to wheel roller section to form friction pair. Stand is equipped with three restricting rollers positioned in plane of drive roller and with two pressing rollers which define together with drive and restricting rollers triangular prism. Modules with plasmotrons are mounted on stand between drive and restricting rollers. Gas and air are supplied to nozzles for providing operation of plasmotron. Modules have spring-loaded thrust rollers resting upon wheel flange of wheel pair. Analysis of failure of wheel pair, in particular of wheel rolling surface, has shown that upon expiration of guaranteed operating time, defects such as ridge and chip wear are prevailing. EFFECT: increased contact-aging strength of metal and, as a result, increased service life of wheel pair, minimized manual work and elimination of equipment readjustment works. 3 cl, 7 dwg
