FIELD: ground probing devices. SUBSTANCE: probe has rods connected by couplings, and tapered head-piece. Also provided are device for depressing and withdrawing probe, guiding device and measuring device, and facility for transportation of probe. Additionally provided is another tapered head-piece. Head-pieces are made as replaceable. First tapered head-piece is cone-shaped. Additional head-piece is in the shape of cone and base of this cone is combined with base of cylinder which is equal to it in diameter d₁ of cylinder being of height l₁ which is determined from following relation 1,5 ≤ l₁/d₁≤ 10,. Diameter d₁ of base of tapered head-piece is determined from relation of average weight P of man and force of depressing P₃ tapered head-piece into clayey ground of semi-hard consistency 0,5 ≤ P/P₃≤ 2,0. Relation of diameter d₂ of couplings to diameter d₃ of rods is as follows 1,3 ≤ d₂/d₃≤ 2,0. Relation of diameter d₁ of base of tapered head-piece to diameter d₂ of couplings is equal to 1,05 ≤ d₁/d₂≤ 2,0. Relation of rod length l to rod diameter d₃ is equal to 40 ≤ l/d₃≤ 130. In transportation position, rods and guiding pipes can be enclosed in bar-like case having divisions on its external side. This bar-like case is simultaneously used for measuring depth of probe penetration into ground. Aforesaid embodiment of hand-operated probe affords high reliability, easy transportability, wider area of application together with possibility of depressing probe into ground under man's weight.
