FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: reinforcing rods are used for reinforcement of concrete structures. Reinforcing rod of periodic profile is made of class A500C steel with thermomechanical hardening with content of carbon within limits of 0.14-0.27% and with yield point of 500-680 N/sq.mm and with laminated composite structure of lateral cross-section with external layer of tempered martensite of thickness equal to 0.05-0.20 of reduced diameter of rod dr and with hardness of 23-30 HRC. Relation of ultimate strength to yield point of reinforcing rod is equal to 1.05-1.25 at elongation of at least 16% and specific energy of destruction not less than 36 N/sq. mm. Application of aforesaid embodiment of reinforcing rod of periodic profile improves reliability of reinforced concrete structures, reduces amount of material needed, improves technology of reinforcing operations due to higher strength at normal and low temperatures.
