METHOD FOR ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSIS OF ACUTE PEROPROCTITIS Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

Abstract RU 2134544 C1

FIELD: medicine, applicable in proctology for ultrasound diagnosis of acute peroproctitis. SUBSTANCE: the method comprises endorectal ultrasound determination of abscess and its linear dimensions, its homogeneity and heterogeneity, localization of the internal opening, conduction of the sphincter and rectostenosis, conduction of tissues surrounding the abscess. The method also comprises transabdominal ultrasound determination of exudate in the small pelvis, pathologic changes of the prostate and periprostatic tissues, determination of changes on the side of the uterus and uterine appendages. Additionally performed is the transperineal ultrasound revealing of additional suppurative foci, passages and fills to the gluteal region and sacral region and their connection with the basic focus. Determined also is the relation of the abscess with the skin integument. Determined is the degree of drawing-in of the rectum and sphincter in the inflammatory process, and location of the revealed internal opening is confirmed. Endorectal, transabdominal, transperineal ultrasound examination is carried out in any sequence. Endorectal examination is carried out at a scanning frequency of 5.5-10 MHz. Transabdominal examination is carried out at a scanning frequency of 2.5-5 MHz. Transperineal examination is accomplished at a scanning frequency of 3.5-7.8 MHz. The method provides for precise diagnosis of abscess, revealing of additional suppurative foci, passages and fills to the gluteal region and sacral region and their connection with the basic focus before surgical access to pathologic change. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 2 ex
