FIELD: production of inorganic compounds. SUBSTANCE: method consists in treating aqueous solution of sodium tripolyphosphate with sodium hydroxide at ratio of the latter to the former 0.7-0.9 and temperature 70-90 C. Quality of product is thus improved because of reduced level of orthophosphates (0.05-0.1%). Product is also practically devoid of polymeric forms. EFFECT: improved quality of product and reduced power consumption. 2 tbl
