FIELD: ophthalmology; experimental ophthalmology. SUBSTANCE: method involves injection of 0.01 ml of cellular suspension containing virus of herpes simplex, strain L2 in vitreous body of mongrel mature white mice upon instillation of one or two droplets of tetracaine hydrochloride solution in conjunctival cavity. Infectious titer of virus amounts to 106-107 TCD50/0,1 ml. Retina is analyzed three to seven days upon infection. Simulator produced in this way is most close to human disease of this kind. EFFECT: improved rate of reproduction and criticality of morphologic changes of retina.
