INSTALLATION FOR HEAT TREATMENT OF CALIBRATED STEEL WIRE Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: heat treatment of metals and alloys, mainly recrystallization and spheroidizing annealing of calibrated steel used for making fastening articles by cold die forging. SUBSTANCE: installation for heat treatment of coiled calibrated steel wire includes uncoiler, pulling and straightening apparatus, inductor of heating apparatus, generator, automatic temperature controller and cooler in the form of thermic chamber in which coiler is arranged. Installation includes in addition unit for controlled cooling up of wire and thermocontrolled shield. Usage of initially calibrated metallic wire allows to simplify structure of installation without deterioration of annealed metal quality. Unit for controlled cooling up allows to realize modes of stepped spheroidizing annealing of alloyed steels. Thermic chamber allows to perform cooling at rates no more than 0.5 C/min required for diffusion processes. Coiler placed in thermic chamber eliminates sharp temperature drop at initial stage of cooling. Thermocontrolled shield placed between unit for cooling up wire and thermic chamber allows to cool up heated wire only when cooling up process is regulated in dependance upon annealing mode.
