FIELD: wireless communication systems. SUBSTANCE: processor chip transcodes input digital voice signal to generate digital input characters, demodulates output signal received from base station to generate output digital characters, and synthesizes output digital voice signal from output digital characters. Pulse- code characteristic chip filters off pulse-code characteristic of input digital characters and generates synchronizing signals to synchronize transcoding and synthesizing operations in processor chip. CPU chip synthesizes intermediate-frequency digital signal in digitized form by direct digital synthesis and modulates intermediate-frequency digital signal with filtered-off input characters to produce modulated intermediate-frequency input signal.
