FIELD: heating furnaces; metallurgy; mechanical engineering and other industries. SUBSTANCE: recuperator includes checker made from ceramic tubes and connecting members enclosed in chamber having outlet and inlet passages, above-recuperator and under-recuperator spaces, heated air receiver; above-recuperator space is brought in communication with inner cavity of air intake whose rarefaction (P1) created by fan always exceeds that in above-recuperator space (P2). Due to difference in rarefactions (P1 and P2), part of highly heated flue gases flow from above-recuperator space to cavity of air intake. Total passage area of bypass passages made in wall separating the above-recuperator space from air intake ranges from 0.01 to 0.11 of total passage area of air passages of air intake from checker chamber; it is determined by definite relationship. EFFECT: increased temperature of air being heated and reduced emissions of nitric oxides from furnace. 2 dwg
