FIELD: treatment of materials, in particular, laser cutting, applicable in laser machine tools for cut-out of plate materials in various branches of mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: the device provides for following the distance between the nozzle and part at laser cutting by measuring the speed parameters of the cutting gas radial jet in the gap between the nozzle and part. To this end, measures with the aid of a differential pressure gauge is the difference between the impact and static pressures in the radial jet at a certain distance from the nozzle axis, or the difference in static pressures at different distances from the nozzle axis. The device provides for stabilization of the gap not only for metal parts, but also for nonmetallic specimens. EFFECT: enhanced technological capabilities. 7 cl, 5 dwg
