VEHICLE WHEELHOUSE (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: automotive industry; protection of wheelhouse against corrosion and abrasion. SUBSTANCE: invention gives description of two versions. According to first version, wheelhouse has guard case 1 with outer, upper and inner walls enclosing wheel 2 with suspension 3. Inner wall of guard case is secured on housing of wheel brake disk 4. Edge of outer wall and front edge of case inside the case are provided with chute 5 for collecting and draining water. According to second version, wheelhouse is also provided with guard case 6, but in this case it has only outer and in upper walls and case bracket 7 secured on upright 8 of wheel suspension 3. Edge of outer wall and front edge of case are provided with chute 5 similar to that of first design version. In both design versions upper wall of case above wheel middle in longitudinal plane and edge of chute of outer wall are installed with clearances a=1-3 cm and b=1-5 cm, respectively, from side surface of wheel. Edge of outer wall of case on its working part is made with radius R₁= (0,7÷0,9)R₂.. EFFECT: simplified design, convenience in operation. 3 cl, 8 dwg
