FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology, pharmacology, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing interferon-containing compositions that can be used in ophthalmology. Eye drops containing recombinant interferon have additionally a stabilizing agent of biological, physicochemical properties and/or resistance to microbial contamination and a buffer mixture at the following ratio of components in 1 ml of the solution: recombinant interferon up to 100 000 IU; stabilizing agent 0.00005-0.2 g and buffer mixture - the rest, ml. Drops have polyvinylpyrrolidone or polyvinyl alcohol, or derivative of methylcellulose as a stabilizing agent and nipagin or quaternary ammonium compounds or chlorhexidine. Alpha-, beta- or gamma-interferon is used. Eye drops have additionally an antioxidant and dimedrol. EFFECT: good penetrating capability of eye drops, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, local anesthetic, antihistaminic and regenerating effects. 7 cl, 7 ex
